At the age of ten, Dr. Anton Prinsloo had his first two stories published in the then daily newspaper Die Transvaler
. Since then, he had been interested in the science of language, but mostly in the origin of Afrikaans words and expressions. He was chairman of the Language Committee of the SA Academy for Arts and Science, of the National Language Body for Afrikaans and the Language Advisory Board of the SABC.
He wrote a number of articles for linguistic journals and has published no less than six books His column “Taalkruie” in the newspaper Volksblad is in its seventh year. He has received awards from the SA Academy for Arts and Science, the ATKV and the FAK.
