A new book for cryptic crossword solvers containing phrases in both standard and reverse alphabetical order. There are a number of crossword solver reference books containing conventional tabulations of single words (generally ranging from 3 to 9 letters) and of phrases (generally from 8 to 15 letters) in standard alphabetical order.
Phrases books, in particular, provide key assistance to solvers of the more difficult cryptic crossword puzzles. Jack Dunwoody has however developed a phrases book, a sister volume to The Finweek Book of Cryptic Crosswords, that is unique. This phrases book has two sections: phrases from 8 to 15 letters in alphabetical order of the first word or words and the same phrases in alphabetical order based on the last word, that is, a reverse phrases section.
Therefore, in The Finweek Book of Phrases for Cryptic Crosswords the solver has two books in one – forward and reverse phrases – and can find the solution from either end. This is unique in reference works available to the cryptic crossword solver.
